Go before sunrise and see the sunrise from the top, looking down into the crater. It is like you are on top of the world. But bring a jacket, it is elevation and it gets cold up there. You are in Hawaii so you don't think of this but you will thank me. We ended up having to borrow a blanket - it was chilly.
